NEPSI uploads a spreadsheet tool for calculating outrush current and frequency associated with medium voltage power capacitor banks and close in faults. The spreadsheet tool presents the relevant standards and calculations to determine the requirement for outrush reactors based on substation breaker and capacitor bank ratings. The requirement for outrush reactors is largely dependent on the circuit breaker being used, the grounding and rating of the capacitor bank, as well as the length of cable between the capacitor bank and the location where the fault may occur. Download this new tool and view all of our others at nepsi.com/resources/spreadsheet-tools.
