TRANSIENT INRUSH REACTORS

Share this product page:

NEPSI's Transient Inrush Reactors are designed to increase the life expectancy of capacitor switches by limiting both the magnitude and frequency of the transient inrush currents associated with back-to-back capacitor bank switching. These reactors are most commonly applied in multi-stage medium voltage (2.4kV through 34.5kV) power capacitor banks or in fixed power capacitor banks that are connected on the same switchgear bus as other fixed power capacitor banks.

NEPSI recommends transient inrush reactors be sized to 50% of the high frequency transient making current of the capacitor switch, contactor, or breaker. The Southern State's CapSwitcher, due to its use of pre-insertion resistors, does not typically require the use of transient inrush reactors.
